Boilerplate

Three sentences you can paste as they are.

TalkerApp is an app for writing and speaking, for adults who know what they want to say but cannot rely on verbal speech or fast typing. A person types at their own pace, AI helps TalkerApp suggest the next words and whole sentences in Polish or English, and a voice they choose says them aloud. It is text-based AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), still in development for macOS and Windows, with a waitlist open at gettalker.app.

Facts

Name
TalkerApp, written as one word.
What it is
A desktop app for writing and speaking: text-based AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) for adults.
Platforms
macOS on Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. There is no version for Intel Macs or for Windows on ARM. iOS and Android are planned, with no dates yet.
Languages
Polish and English: the interface and the suggestions. Voices depend on the voices installed on the computer and on the cloud services connected. The language can be switched in the app at any time.
Status
In development. Not released yet, and there is no public download. Test builds exist, but Windows and macOS ask for confirmation before opening them, because they are not signed with a security certificate yet. The waitlist decides which system gets a certificate and a release first.
Plans
Free and Pro. Free is a complete tool for writing and speaking. Pro adds all cloud voices with emotion, the overlay keyboard, the Recording Studio, personas and style learning. The Recording Studio is for recordings with a different voice for each part. Personas are saved profiles, one for each audience, such as family or work. Style learning is a report on how the person writes, used only once they approve it. A Pro license lasts 12 months, covers 2 computers and never renews by itself. Writing and speaking are never locked.Free costs nothing. We will share the price of Pro before launch.

The TalkerApp overlay keyboard: a row of word suggestions and a row of whole sentences above a QWERTY keyboard with large keys.
The overlay keyboard (Pro) floats above other apps and types wherever it can find the text cursor (the caret). The sentence suggestions in this picture come from phrases added for the screenshot; the ready-made phrases are in Polish in this version.

The emotion picker: eight choices that apply to the next sentence only. Emotion in cloud voices and the full list of cloud voices are part of Pro. With the computer’s own voice, emotion changes pace and pitch in every plan.

More about the people

How to describe TalkerApp

Words matter to the people TalkerApp is made for. These suggestions keep a description accurate and respectful.

  • An app for writing and speaking

TalkerApp is software that a person uses themselves. It does not replace an assessment by a specialist.

  • People who use AAC

“AAC users” works too. “Types to speak” says what a person does, and “nonspeaking” fits when it is needed.

  • What a person does and knows

Name a condition only when the person has named it, in their own words.

  • Their words, in a voice they choose

TalkerApp says what a person types.
